'Bored' Game

A variation on the Monopoly(TM) board game for up to 6 players

THE AIM OF THE GAME

Fight to the death - your Prize is the Universe!

CURRENCY

Money = Personnel. Each player starts the Game with 1,000 personnel.

Outgoing money = Casualties

Incoming money = Recruits

HOW TO PLAY

Travel clockwise around Space (the board) collecting Planets (property cards).

Each time another player lands on your Planet it costs them the number of casualties displayed on the card.

Each complete set equals 1 Star System. When you control an entire System you charge other players the relative 'people-points' displayed on the card.

The more Colonies (houses/hotels) you build, the more resistence the invaders will face - therefore the higher their losses. On the other hand, building Colonies in Space can cost a fortune in manpower - look at Tellus and Vesta . . .

'TAKE A CHANCE!' CARDS

(Place on the 'Chance' card position - 24 cards in total.)

"Major Row in Full View of Enemy!" card (3) - Roll the dice. 4-6 you get away with it - have a free throw. 1-3 half your people are annihilated - miss 1 turn.

"Loyalty Test" card (2) (aka 'Go to Jail') - Irrational Bigotry Time! Select one other player who then has to miss their next turn.

"Sillicate Raiders" card (3) - Silllicate Raiders have stolen most of your Energy Supply - move at half speed (halve your next score).

"Operation Roundhammer (oops!)" card (1) - you have inadvertantly told the Enemy all about your Master Plan. Miss 2 turns!

"Colonel McQueen" card (2) (aka 'Get out of Jail Free') - get you out of anything - unless someone has an

"Angst!" card (6) - MUST be played against a "Colonel McQueen" card), renders it ineffective due to Introspective Posing against a nearby window or doorway - UNLESS you can play a "Commodore Ross" card (see under 'Order' cards).

The "CvR" card (1) - roll the dice. Score 1-5 you are badly wounded . . . move at half speed for the next three turns. Score a 6 and you get 3 free turns (plus a glass of the Hosts' best whiskey . . . ;-})

"Pearly" card (3) - doubles your next throw!

"Elroy-L" card (2) - subtract 1 from your next dice score in honour of Wang's regular incapacitation.

"Trojan Horse" card (1) - the player of this card gets doubles his next dice score, and can select one other player who has to miss their next turn.

'ORDER' CARDS

(Place on the 'Community Chest' position - 24 cards in total.)

"Commodore Ross" card (2) - Nutralizes the 'Angst' card as the player reads aloud "We're not abandoning those Kids, Ty!" (The player of the original "Colonel McQueen" card can still 'Get out of Jail free'.)

"AWOL!" card (3) - West goes off after Kylen and the others must stop whatever it is they're doing and fetch him back! Miss 1 turn.

"War Poetry!" card (2) - miss a turn whilst having to listen to some REALLY depressing War Poetry; subsequent turn at half speed due to demoralisation (halve your next score).

"If a job's worth doing..." card (3) - McQueen gets to 'kick ass' again - double your next score.

"Rosalyn" card (3) - Commodore Ross is feeling relaxed and generous - double your next score.

"Explain to Hawkes!" card (4) - Miss 1 turn while explaining The Plan in words of one syllable.

The "Uh-ohh! (green)" card (2) - an Aerotech official requests your appearance! Move four spaces forward immediately.

The "Uh-ohh! (red)" card (2) - an Aerotech official requests your appearance! Go back 4 places for being stupid enough to believe whatever it was he told you!

"Blood Alley" card (2) - Damphousse has fainted at the mere thought of blood. Move at half speed as your forced to carry her (halve your next score).

"Real Marine!" card (1) - If/when it comes up an Order has to be executed immediately without deviation, hesitation or repetition. Get 3 free throws!

AGAMEMNON and MENELAUS - brothers.

ACHILLES - son of PELEUS and THETIS.

ANTILOCHUS, THRASYMEDES and PEISISTRATUS - brothers.

DIOMEDES - son of TYDEUS and DEIPYLE.

ODYSSEUS - son of LAERTES and ANTICLEIA.

TEUCER - son of TELAMON and HESIONE.

TLEPOLEMUS - son of HERACLES and ASTYOCHEIA.

ORPHEUS and his lover EURYDICE.

CASTOR, POLYDEUCES, CLYTAEMNESTRA and HELEN (4 bros and sisters).

SCYLLA and CHARYBDIS - 2 Sea Terrors, one dwelling each side of the Straight of Messina.

SCYLLA - the Monster - had 12 feet, 6 necks and 3 rows of teeth per head. She lived on the Italian side, in a cave on a cliff beside a treacherous submerged reef. (Originally a beautiful maiden loved by a sea god, she had been transformed into a Monster by her jealous rival, the sorceress Circe.)

Across the Straight, on the Sicillian side (beneath a giant fig tree), lived -

CHARYBDIS - the Whirlpool - who sucked in and belched out the Sea 3 times a day, devouring any and all who strayed too near.
